Promoting Printmakers
as a vital part of the art community in the Lehigh Valley .

PSLV is a collective of artists with an interest and passion for printmaking in the arts community. We aim to exhibit our members, educate the public about print, and share ideas, techniques, and opportunities. We are an open-minded and broadly inviting group. Despite our non-exclusive attitudes, we attract and consist of premier artist printmakers from the greater Lehigh Valley region of Eastern Pennsylvania, and are proud of our extensive and experienced family of active members.

What is printmaking?

Printmaking is the art of producing images through techniques of mechanical transfer. The resulting fine prints, rendered individually by the hands of technically proficient artists are considered original works of art, even though they can exist in multiples.

Types of original fine art printmaking include:

  • Woodblock Relief Prints
  • Linoleum Cut Relief Prints
  • Lithographs
  • Silkscreen Prints (or Serigraphs)
  • Etchings
  • Engravings
  • Mezzotints
  • Monotypes
  • Collographs
  •    and more!

How can I start collecting prints?

Great question!  Prints are an awesome way to start collecting art, or expand your collection.  Prints are attractive to collectors because:

  • prints can be an affordable art medium.
  • prints offer all the longevity, complexity, vibrancy, and notoriety of other art media with a lower threshold of maintenance and upkeep.
  • prints can be stored more conveniently than many bulkier art forms.
  • printmaking as a technical medium is fun to learn about and expand your ability to identify. Your friends will be impressed when you tell them about how your print was made.
