SMALL WORKS

 (Big Imagination)

Printmakers Society of the Lehigh Valley at Emmaus Public Library

April 3 - May 1, 2024

We are happy to announce our first exhibit for 2024! The location is in the children's wing at the Emmaus Public Library.  We are asking for small works (12"x12" or less image size), and leave it up to you to interpret what big imagination means. The exhibit is in collaboration with the Lehigh Art Alliance, who helped develop this space and runs monthly exhibits there. You can check out the library's blog to see previous exhibits. This is a PSLV members exhibit, so you must be a current member to exhibit (dues of $25 may be paid at drop off for previous members).

Exhibit Details

  • Artworks submitted must represent a traditional hand-made printmaking process, an experimental extension of one of those processes, or a new technology handled within the scope and voice of traditional printmaking.  Reproduction prints and straight digital photographic prints will not be considered appropriate for this exhibition.
  • All work must be original and the artist's own from concept to completion.
  • All artworks to be hung must be framed and wired for hanging with the existing hanging system at the library.  Saw tooth hangers do not work. Smaller pieces (balanced on small easels, the library has some) or non-hung work may be shown on a large set of available bookshelves.
  • Emmaus Public Library, LAA and PSLV are not responsible for loss or damage to work.
  • The exhibit takes place in the well used Children's Wing of the library, so subjects must be suitable for a family environment.  As a public space, Emmaus Public Library discourages depictions of nudity and overtly religious works. We also feel that political work is not appropriate for this space.
  • Artists may submit up to 4 prints to be hung as space permits.  In the situation that there is not enough space to show all works, best efforts will be made to give all participating artists equal exposure in the show.  PSLV reserves the right to jury works out as necessary.
  • Please limit pieces to an image size of 12"x12" or less. The framed size may be bigger. (Although this exhibit is focused on small works, there is room for 4 larger prints - please contact us.)
  • All artwork must be submitted ahead on the online submission form below.  This is in lieu of a hand-written gallery tag.  This form will be used to print artwork wall tags.  Your artwork identification tags will be given to you at dropoff to attach to the backs of your artworks.
  • There is no commission on sales, but LAA and Emmaus PL ask you to consider a 20% donation to the library if a sale occurs during the exhibit.
  • There is no additional charge for this exhibition.

Art Submission Form (By March 20)

Please fill in all information here the way you would like it to read on your wall-tags.  Wall-tags will be generated directly from this form.  If you wish to list a work as Not-For-Sale, please write in "NFS" plus a price for us to have on hand as its value.  An estimation is fine for dimensions (outer frame dimensions please), and an image isn't necessary but helps us promote the show.  A small image (under 3MB) that is informal is good enough for our purposes.
