Claire Marcus

Bio

CLAIRE MARCUS has a special interest in landscape’s power to evoke memory and

narrative. Her work in book formats and mixed media is created with printmaking and

drawing, stitched with found objects. Increasingly sculptural in form, it reflects her

background as a fifth generation fiber artist, synthesizing family heritage with training in

painting and architecture

Marcus holds MFA and BFA degrees in painting and a BA in architecture from

the University of Pennsylvania where she studied with Neil Welliver and Rudy Burckhardt.

Rackstraw Downes supervised her teaching fellowship. She has conducted standards-

based,

preschool- 20 residencies and community arts projects for the Pennsylvania Council on the

Arts since 1998, working with a range of populations including adjudicated youth and adults.

Claire Marcus has exhibited book and mixed media works at Asheville Bookworks;

Book, Paper, Scissors; Book Week Scotland; Columbia University Teachers College;

Kalamazoo Book Arts Center; MoMA/PS1; Philadelphia’s Art in City Hall; Philalalia;

St. John’s College Annapolis; and Turn the Page Artist’s Book Fair in Norwich, England.Keith Garubba is an artist and educator living and working in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Creating in print media, multimedia installations, and interactive artworks, Garubba takes a multi-faceted approach to investigating questions regarding beliefs and myths in science and art. He is currently a resident artist at the Banana Factory, and works as a printer and graphic designer at the fine art print publisher Durham Press.  Garubba teaches ongoing classes at various regional institutions.


Garubba graduated from Keystone College in LaPlume, Pennsylvania as the Outstanding Graduate in 2010. In 2014, he earned his Masters in Fine Arts from The Ohio State University. In 2016, Keith was awarded the Arts Ovation Award as Emerging Artist of the Year by the Allentown Arts Commission. Garubba exhibits his work regularly throughout Pennsylvania and the US, holds leadership roles in regional arts organizations, and visits higher education institutions across the country as a visiting artist offering talks and workshops.
