PRI(nt)SM:  A Color Wheel in Prints

Printmakers Society of the Lehigh Valley at Bethlehem Rotunda Gallery

May 18 - June 24

This themed PSLV exhibition invites members to submit works each representing a specific color, in coordination with other members, to transform this circular exhibition space into a life-size color wheel.  Members are invited to interpret this directive in whatever form they like:  literal, conceptual, subtle, clever, etc.  This theme is less prescriptive than a suggestion . . . while much planning will be made ahead to design the show accordingly, there will be less curatorial enforcement of the vision and more open-mindedness to "see what we get"!  Broad interpretations are welcome.

Exhibit Details

  • Artworks submitted must represent a traditional hand-made printmaking process, an experimental extension of one of those processes, or a new technology handled within the scope and voice of traditional printmaking.  Reproduction prints and straight digital photographic prints will not be considered appropriate for this exhibition.
  • All work must be original and the artist's own from concept to completion.
  • All artworks must be framed and wired for hanging with the existing rail hanging system at the gallery.  Pedestals are available in limited quantities and sizes, please be in touch to request accommodations for 3-dimensional presentation.
  • The venue asserts that subjects must be suitable for a family environment.  Sensitivity is requested with regards to nudity, and political and religious proselytizing.
  • Artists may submit up to 5 prints to be hung as space permits.  In the situation that there is not enough space to show all works, best efforts will be made to give all participating artists equal exposure in the show.  PSLV reserves the right to jury works out as necessary.
  • Please limit large pieces to 40" Width Max, and 48" Height Max.
  • All artwork must be submitted ahead on the online submission form.  This is in lieu of a hand-written gallery tag.  This form will be used to plan the show and also to print artwork wall tags.  Your artwork identification tags will be given to you at dropoff to attach to the backs of your artworks.
  • There is no commission on sales.
  • The PSLV asks $10 at drop off as a contribution to exhibition expenses.

Please commit below and indicate how many artworks you anticipate submitting to each color.  An estimate will help us predict how well-rounded the show will be.  Submit up to 5 artworks.  You can review the standing numbers in chart below.  The chart does not update immediately, so it won't register your immediate contribution when you submit.  Please consider submitting works in the under-represented color groups if possible.

Art Submission Form (By April 22)

Please fill in all information here the way you would like it to read on your wall-tags.  Wall-tags will be generated directly from this form.  If you wish to list a work as Not-For-Sale, please write in "NFS" plus a price for us to have on hand as its value.  An estimation will suffice for dimensions (outer frame dimensions please), and an image isn't necessary but helps us organize and promote the show.  A small image (under 3MB) that is informal is good enough for our purposes.
